SOLO ANDREA SET TO BE RUNAWAY HIT
Singer Andrea Corr is reportedly gearing up for a 50-date European Tour in a bid to launch her solo career. The 32 year-old star is said to be planning a series of high-profile concerts, even thought work on her first album hasn't even been completed yet. The sultry brunette has been bombarded with offers from top promoters desperate to sign her up for lucrative solo tour next spring. The Dundalk singer said recently how she was considering a break from her chart-topping siblings and thinking about starting a solo project. PROMOTERS She has been performing with sisters Caroline and Sharon and brother Jim from an early age and collectively, the band have scored a string of hits worldwide. But music insiders reckon Andrea, who has taken time out previously to pursue some acting projects, has enough star quality to go it alone. “She could easily make 1m euro from a string of sell-out dates if the demand is there”, said a source close to the star. “All the promoters reckon Andrea will be one of the biggest tours next year. She has never done anything like this before and the fans are really excited about what she’s going to come out with”. “At this stage, it looks likely there will be up to 50 shows at various venues around Ireland, the UK and Europe”. It is also believed that Andrea’s record company is gearing up to invest a fortune in promoting the album. A team of top stylists, publicists and music directors will be hired for the release of the upcoming album and tour. The source continued: “Andrea is putting everything she has got into this album and it’s already shaping up to be a real classic. She has to come out with something that’s completely different to anything the Corrs have done in the past. The plan in to release the album amid a blaze of publicity and get it to the top of the charts around the world. We’ll also see a new-look Andrea as she takes her first big step towards solo stardom. People are going to be really surprised by what she comes out with”. But despite all her solo plans, Andrea has insisted that it won’t spell the end for the family group. “We’re all taking a break to do our own things but we’ll definitely be back together for more albums and tours in the future”, she said. “I’m working on my solo album now and it’s been great fun”. Next month sees the Dundalk stars releasing “Dreams – The Ultimate Corrs Collection” on November 20th. As well as the band’s greatest hits, the track list will include remixes of Goodbye and When the Stars Go Blue featuring U2 frontman Bono while Ronnie Wood performs on Ruby Tuesday.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe have separated. The couple's rep released a statement to TMZ Monday morning that says "We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time." Sources tell TMZ Witherspoon has contacted celebrity divorce lawyer Robert Kaufman, who has represented Jennifer Aniston, Roseanne and Lisa Marie Presley. Sources say Witherspoon spoke with Kaufman about divorcing Ryan Phillippe, her husband of seven years. The couple has two children. They met at Witherspoon's 21st birthday party. As for why Witherspoon contacted Kaufman, we're told it was not triggered by one event. Rather, one connected source says it was "cumulative." Divorce papers have not yet been filed.

At least that's the opinion of a Hong Kong event promoter who said a concert set for tomorrow was called off because of disappointing ticket sales and the diva's outrageous demands. "We have decided to cancel the event ... due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable," promoter One Events said in a statement yesterday. "She was making demands like Streisand," a music industry source told the Daily News. "She wanted special spring water, furniture, lighting and armed escorts. "They told her: 'This is Hong Kong, not the U.S.,' and she said: 'I am not going on.' So they said: 'Fine.'" But Carey's manager said the pop star pulled out because the promoter had failed to meet his financial commitments. Benny Medina of Handprint Entertainment said ticket sales were fine. He denied that the "Emancipation of Mimi" songstress had made any unusual requests. "In these cases, the artist arrives in their tour bus, goes to a backstage room, performs and then leaves," Medina said. "This promoter is resorting to lies and attacks on Mariah when it's just a result of the fact he can't pay his bills."

For the record, ticket prices in Hong Kong are the highest among all the venues that she played. Try selling a ticket for $300 USD in the US and I'm sure you can as well cancel your whole tour. For the ticket prices you charge I would expect you to install 10 chandeliers on your stage.
I just can't believe this. What's wrong with people. First we have Robbie's rep saying Asia is some 'entirely new territories' thus asking him to perform here is 'asking for too much', now we have somebody telling Mariah 'this is HK, not the US'. WTF?!
